What’s Included in The Packages?
Hi Joel, just wanted to say a huge thank you for last night.
You were amazing and a huge success! So many of my friends commented on you and thought you were brilliant.
Val, 40th Birthday
The prices above all include:
- 2 hours of live music – normally, that means somewhere from 30 to 35 songs. I usually perform for 2 × 1 hour sets, but we can split the music up differently. It’s up to you.
- Live Music Only package includes a small, compact sound system that’s perfect for house parties or small-to-medium sized venues. For evening / indoor events, I can also provide some stage lighting to light me up while I’m playing.
- Live Music Only package also includes background music whenever I’m not playing. No awkward silences while the singer takes a break! You can either supply your own playlist on an iPod etc, or use mine.
- Live music + DJ package includes a larger sound system, plus state-of-the-art lighting for the dance floor area. When I’m not playing, I’ll man the laptop and take requests, and choose songs to keep the dance floor full and the party pumping!
I can also provide:
A duo line-up. With an extra female vocalist and bass player, our duo also covers a range of songs by female artists (Florence, Adele, The Supremes to name a few). The bass guitar and harmony singing adds an extra dimension to the sound, too.
You’ll find more information about our duo and band here.
There are lots of singers out there – why should I book you?
It’s a fair question. Here are some good reasons to book me:
Joel played at our wedding in Sept 2013. We can’t recommend him enough! He always responded to phone calls and emails prior to the wedding and even learnt a couple of new songs for us. Nothing was too much trouble! On the day, he was everything we expected and more.
You’re hiring a professional. Playing music isn’t something I do for a hobby, or for a bit of extra pocket money – it’s my livelihood. While most other musicians are busy at their day jobs, I’ll be thinking about how to give you the best possible music for your party. And when the time comes to perform, I’ll be fresh and ready to go!
Lots of experience. I’ve played at over 100 weddings, and dozens of birthday parties including 21st, 30th, 40th, 50th… even 90th birthdays! All sorts of other events, too, from corporate parties to university balls. I know what’s expected of me, and I’ll make sure that your event runs as smoothly as possible – so you can concentrate on enjoying yourself!
I enjoy what I do! It’s sad, but I’ve lost count of the times I’ve spoken to other entertainers and DJs who tell me they don’t enjoy their job. How can they expect the audience to enjoy themselves, if they aren’t? Do yourself a favour, and hire somebody who really wants to be there!
Huge list of songs, with lots of variety. I’m always adding to my song list. Whether your party guests are 17 or 70, chances are I’ll have some of their favourites on there.
Flexible and easy to work with. You want someone who can perform like a rock star, without acting like one when they’re off stage! Whatever plans you have for your party, I’ll make sure that it’s just how you want it – and make sure it’s a success.

Getting your party atmosphere just right
It’s your party – not my concert – so I’ll make sure that the music suits the occasion. If people want to dance and let their hair down, I’ll keep it upbeat and energetic. But if it’s an event where people want to relax and chat as well as listen to the music, I’m happy to sit back and not be the centre of attention!
Since there’s no drummer or loud rock guitars, I have complete control over the volume level… so the music can be as loud or as quiet as you want it to be. I’ll set the volume at what I think is the right level for your party – but if you need it turning up or down, just ask.
Can I choose songs from your list?
Yes. You’ll find a copy of my current song list here.
If I’m playing for 2 hours, I’ll normally get through around 30-35 of these songs. You can request as many songs as you like, and I’ll include them in my performance. Similarly, if there are any songs you really don’t want me to play, just let me know and I’ll leave those out.
Alternatively, if that sounds like too much trouble, you can just leave it up to me to decide!
(Tip: if it’s going to be a lively party, it’s often better to leave me some freedom to choose the songs – that way, I can use my experience to “play to the crowd”)
U were AMAZING!!!!! I have already passed your number on twice! Hope u don’t mind! X
Tori, 30th Birthday

Will I Need to Provide Anything?
I’ll need a power socket to plug into. Any standard household socket will be fine, since my equipment only uses a small amount of power. I carry a 10 metre extension lead with me – but if the power socket is further than 10m from the performance area, you’ll either need to give me notice so I can bring a longer lead, or provide your own extension lead. (Unless I’m playing outdoors, this is very rarely a problem!)
I’ll also need a small amount of space, roughly:
- Live Music Only – 1.5m wide × 1.2m deep (5ft × 4ft)
- With DJ option – 3m wide × 2m deep (10ft × 6.5ft)
Finally, since I’ll be using electrical equipment, the performance area will need to be dry. If you’d like me to play outdoors, then you should ensure that there’s adequate protection from the wind and rain. (Unless I’m within a couple of steps of a doorway and I’m able to take my equipment inside the moment it starts to rain.)
